SATS Revision

Are you ready for SATs 2014?

SATs Revision is going to be a little more challenging this year. Major changes in Maths SATs mean NO Calculators are now allowed in many of the Key Stage 2 Maths tests.

Help your child with their SATS Revision by downloading free SATS Revision Papers and give them that extra confidence walking into the exam room.

SATs take place in year 2 ( at the end of infants) throughout May.

Each child is teacher assessed in Reading, writing (including spelling and handwriting), maths (including number, shape, space and measurement) and science.

Your child’s class teacher will set short pieces of work in English and maths to judge what level of ability your child is considered to be. There are no set SATs tests for this key stage.

SATs take place 12th to 15th May 2014 and are far more formal than Key Stage 1, hence they seem much more stressful!

This year the significant change is that NO CALCULATORS are allowed in several of the Maths tests.

The tests which are taken in year 6 cover English and maths. Very bright children may be assessed by teachers to see if they can reach higher levels. The papers are sent away to be marked with results being available before your child leaves primary school in July.

There are no SATS tests for Science in 2014, although some schools may have to take part in a national scheme to assess the science understanding of our nation’s children.

Key Stage 3

Key Stage 3 is not formally assessed any more. However, teachers still set tests often to decide setting for the GCSE years. The SATs Papers are helpful in preparing for these tests.
